Did you miss one or have they already eliminated "Traps" from the running? I think they all suck, personally. Why not just call them the Lobsters and quit beating around the bush. But regardless, I really hope if the name is Lobster-based, they avoid the red color schemes. Lobsters only turn red when they're dead and cooked...not exactly the adjectives you want describing your team, is it? |

They should call them the Red Lobsters, then they have an automatic advertising tie in. I think the uniforms should have a bib with a Red Lobster on it. It could look something like this. 
Why does it have to be a fishing tie-in, why can't we call them the Maine Russets? Or the Maine Yukon Golds? Do these people have something against potatoes? |

I vote for Destroyers just because I can picture a better team logo. I have a feeling that if the name Swarm is picked it is going to look too much like UCLA or the old Hornets |

I think Beacons is the best choice. A mini lighthouse could be positioned in the Expo. During player intros, the lights are dimmed, a fog bank rolls in and the beacon light shines down on the player being introduced. A fog horn could blast out after the intros are over to signal "All clear, let's play basketball!" The light and fog horn could also be used during timeouts to get the crowd going. I'd much rather see that than a dancing lobster! |

The Mariners bring to mind what, a guy in yellow slickers who looks like he just stepped off a Morton Salt container? The Beacons also allow more leeway for logo designs or team color schemes. I'm not a fan of any of them, really. But Beacons is the best of the bunch. I also like the Tide, the Tourist Haters, and the Great Lost Bears |

If you look at it, three of the choices were basically the same: Claws, Red Claws, and Crushers. It kind of makes you think that they got a deal on a lobster costume for the mascot. I think they should have had the press conference yesterday, announced that the winning name was Red Claws, and introduced this as the mascot:
