Ok so we all knew Manning, Polian and the Colts were whiny, but complaing about the Pro Bowlers having to fly down a day early is crazy. These guys will cry about anything. I know the Pro Bowl this week is a bad idea but come on people.

That's fine by me. Just gives me another reason to hate them.

The NFL came clean on Friday admitting officials blew a call on the Favre interception play. Favre was hit too low and the NFL admitted it should have been a 15 yard penalty.

If I'm a Vikings fan, I'm not sure if that makes me feel better or 10,000x worse... But, at least I wouldn't be a Jets fan. I'd have that going for me.

Its amazing that they can come back and say that, but there is nothing that they can do about it. It is a sham. Not that I am a Viqueens fan or anything. But th refs have to call something like that on the field. It was pretty blatent

As much as I hate the Colts, I'm a little upset about the Freeney injury. Why? Because if the Saints win, we'll have to hear excuses about how the Colts either lost their best defensive player or that he wasn't 100%. It would give them, the media and the fans a tailor-made excuse, which is BS.

boo hoo too bad, so sad. No one likes a whiner. Im sure everyone else except for New England cared when Welker went down right before the playoffs. I feel the same way about any other team. You have to roll wiht the punches and take your lumps

I just want the Colts to lose. I don't care if they lose one, two, or ten players in the process.

Don't forget about Kyle Eckel. For being an undrafted FA who was on practice squads for two years, he is having some pleasurable experiences in the NFL. In his 3 active seasons, his teams have appeared in a Conference Championship game every year with Super Bowl appearances. NE 07, PHI 08, NO 09.

I hate the Colts all those currently and formerly associated with the organization.

Remember when it was players who used to get into trouble during Super Bowl week?

Between this and the Michael Irvin thing, it reminds me that teams have done a much better job of locking down (locking in?) their players in recent years. I can't think of an incident since the Barrett Robbins thing during Super Bowl 37. Of course, it's not too late for Darren Sharper to pull a Eugene Robinson.

In honor of people giving way too much praise for games just after they ended (e.g. "This was the best Super Bowl ever!") I'm going to do one better - I'm going to give it way too much praise before it begins. Therefore, at 6:14 pm, minutes before kickoff, I'm officially declaring Super Bowl XLIV the best Super Bowl ever played! You heard it here first!

Very entertaining game. Some great, ballsy decisions by both coaches, which I like to see. And to see Manning get picked, essentially icing the game - perfect. To me, this makes the Manning/Brady debate about as even as you can get. It depends on if you give more weight to stats or titles.

I was ready to at least call it the most well played Super Bowl ever...until Tracy Porter jumped that route and took the INT back. To that point, there had been only five penalties, no turnovers, and both QBs had better than 70% completion percentage. The game had been virtually flawless and highly entertaining.

Brees was well deserving of the MVP, but if ever there was an instance where I think the coach deserved the award, tonight was the night and Sean Payton was the coach. That was one of the gutsiest and aggressively called games I've seen in a Super Bowl, maybe ever. From going for that 4th and goal late in the first half, to the on-side kick to start the second half, he never made the cautious safe choice. They played to win rather than not to lose. I love watching teams play that way.

And above all, I'm glad the Saints won so I avoid having to see the trifecta of hated teams hoisting trophies. With the Lakers and Yankees being the current champs in their sport, I don't think I could have handled the Colts winning too.

I agree about Sean Payton getting MVP. He was gutsy (which I love in a coach). I really enjoyed that game.

Some credit has to go to Tracy Porter. He really made a good read on the pass and cut it off. That throw wasnt as bad as the one that Tracy Porter picked from Favre.

I didn’t get home until the start of the 4th quarter, but I’ve seen umpteen highlights of the rest of the game. While Sean Payton was ballsy with his calls, had they not worked he could have possibly been remembered as the most foolish coach in SB history. Baskett using his head instead of his hands on the onside kick was a gift.

Two things stuck out to me. One was the lack of a pass rush by the Colts for the most part and two was the uncharacteristic drops by the Colts WRs. I thought Reggie Wayne had a horrible game. For a big game receiver he really hurt his team with what I thought was poor route running and silly drops. The Porter pick was a great jump by Porter, but I think Wayne ran a poor route as well. Wayne should have come back to the ball. I also thought Manning was blocked in the back on the return, but no call was made. Garcon had a huge drop as well. Addai was running well yet they seemed to go away from him. I wonder if that was the Tom Moore or if it was Manning changing calls on the field.

Drew Brees has taken the next step and deserves to be mentioned in the class of Brady and Manning. He isn’t #1 on that list, but being #3 isn’t too shabby. What a tremendous game by Brees. Manning on the other hand is just Mr. Ordinary in the playoffs as he drops to 9-9 overall. Not exactly a stellar record. As a matter of fact the Colts are going to look back at the Manning era and dwell on missed opportunities. They are in essence the Braves of the 90’s.

Jalbs, I agree about the pass rush - in fact, neither team had a great pass rush. How many times did we see Manning sitting back there all by his lonesome, just looking for an open guy (and usually finding him)?

A couple of other thoughts:

- Screw you, Tony Dungy. How do those words taste?

- Just read a story on ESPN that the Saints kicker was "terrified" when Payton told him that they would be onside kicking. Completely understandable. Apparently, he almost forgot to practice kickoffs before the second half began because he was so nervous, and he was afraid that might've tipped off the Colts, so he quickly went out there and boomed a kickoff deep into the endzone for his last kick.

- And finally, I think this is a sweet bit of karma, given that the Colts spit in the face of a perfect season. The football gods were not pleased with you, Indy, and that is reason #438 that I'm glad you lost.

On a side note I wonder what rules Polian will try to get changed now. He'll try to make a rule that teams can't onside kick it prior to the 4th quarter or that if Manning throws a pick the Colts get a do over. Or that when the Colts are losing the opposing team has to leave one WR open…or play with 10 defenders. I’d love to know how many temper tantrums he threw during the game.

Manning played a great, but typically boring game. Two huge drops by his receivers, and the failure to grab the on sides kick killed the Colts.

Now that the Saints have won we can officially rank the team's of the past decade; Pats, Steelers, and Colts- in that order.

I hate to say it, but the Giants might be right there with the Colts. God it kills me to say that.

The Colts had the best regular season record of the decade, I'd put them well ahead of the Giants.

I think that the played that started the downfall of the Colts was the drop by Garcon. That gave the Saints a huge shot in the arm as far as energy and confidence are concerned
