Jessica Alba has vowed never to strip off on screen -- because her Catholic upbringing has left her too scared to show off her body. http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.as ... lentchk=1&

I always assume when actresses make declarations like this, they must have some hideous scars they are afraid to show. Whether it's Alba or Jennifer Love Hewitt or Jessica Simpson, they're all pretty much full of crap. Hollywood is littered with actresses that vowed never to drop laundry who ended up doing so as soon as they realized their star was waning. Then they either try to buy themselves a few more years of relevancy (i.e. paychecks) with a nude spread in a magazine or the arty nude scene in a movie that gives them "serious actor" cred or maybe future Oscar consideration. Someone ought to clue these chicks in that there's only been one Best Actress winner in the last 20 years that hasn't showed a little something-something at some point in her career: Julia Roberts in 2000. And no way are any of them going to have a Julia Roberts-like career. Hey Jessica Alba...I bet you anything God will far quicker to forgive you for flashing a little nipple in your next movie than he will be for that piece of tripe Good Luck Chuck. And your stellar work in Honey isn't exactly doing you any favors either.

If not, than forget it.

And now religion is punishing kids for the orientation of their parents. Disgusting move by the church. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/03/10/colora ... tml?hpt=T2

Did that guy read those statements out loud before he said them to CNN? I mean, does the school check the marital status of every student's parents?

Wonder if they've sought out single parents as well. I mean, whether those single parents are single because they had the child out of wedlock or are divorced, that seems to be reason to exclude their kid(s) from the school on the same grounds for which they're barring the lesbian couple's children. Sinners! Burn...err...ban them all!

Tack on another reason. This time, the church has decided to punish the poor and homeless for political reasons: http://www.pressherald.com/news/diocese ... 03-23.html

Jalbs, good for you for volunteering at Preble Street. Were people talking about the recent decision by the church to cut off funding (see link directly above)?

There was no mention of it. To be honest it is so busy there isn't much time for chit chat. It was an eye opening experience.

A video on CNN from an Atheist philosopher on why religion is distracting the world from real problems: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/living ... nn?hpt=Mid

Now the church is fighting a Connecticut law which would remove the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse cases. Give me a freaking break. http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/04/11/con ... tml?hpt=T2From that article: CNN article wrote: Under current Connecticut law, sexual abuse victims have 30 years past their 18th birthday to file a lawsuit. The proposed change to the law would rescind that statute of limitations.
The proposed change to the law would put "all Church institutions, including your parish, at risk," says the letter, which was signed by Connecticut's three Roman Catholic bishops. Um, no, your bishops abusing children and your subsequent cover up of those horrendous acts is what has put your church at risk. Jesus Christ!

Wow, that's disturbing.
Bucket 'Catholic Bishops' in with the rest of the scum in this world. Like Health Care companies trying to figure out loopholes in the new law that says they cannot deny coverage to children (and in a few years, anyone) with pre-existing conditions.
This is much worse though. It's like their only saving grace is the statute of limitation.
Disgusting. I hope the Pope gets tossed, too. That fascist creep is the worst of all of them.
