Can the B's approve on last season and make it deep into the playoffs? Time will tell. As far as the regular season I think they will win the division again.

I think the loss of Kessel will hurt, but I still think this is a team that can make some noise in the playoffs if they can stay healthy.

Rough start to the season. 4-1 OUCH.

I saw a good chunk of the game. It wasn't good. Fortunately, it was just one game. Washington is a good team, too.

I think it was alright. It is early. Sat night vs the Hurricanes will be interesting. Scott Walker coming back to Boston. Unfortunately the cheap hit he made in the playoffs agains Aaron Ward id a moot point as Ward is now on the Hurricanes. Might make it interesting. The Bruins will be alright this year top 3 seed in the playoffs

A 7-2 a** whoopin' of the Canes helps settle opinions pretty fast.

It was a much better effort on the part of the B's. Even Milan got his first fighting major of the year after bloodying some helpless Cane...

I hope we get the 7-2 Bruins and not the 1-4 Bruins...

Injuries are hurting this team, however they have at least gotten a point in each of the last 5 games.

First post in this thread since 10/27/09...that's how bad this team is right now. High expectations have turned into a disasterous season. Meanwhile Kessel is thriving in Toronto so the #1 pick they got for him could be after their very own pick in the draft. Horrible.

Eight losses in a row now after losing to the hottest team in the NHL yesterday (Washington, winners of 11 straight). As rough as it's been lately, this team is still in the hunt to make the playoffs if they can right the ship. But in all honesty, they'd get creamed by Washington or New Jersey in the first round. They MIGHT stand a chance against Buffalo, but not likely.

Eight in a row at home as well. Pathetic. Meanwhile other teams are making huge trades and the Bruins are content with losing.

There was no way they were getting Kovalchuk. NJ stole him from Atlanta for a bag of pucks. There is no way that the Bruins make it out of the first round of the playoffs, if they even get there (which is looking less and less likely with each passing game).

The losing streak ends at 10 games as the B's beat the rival Habs.

And this, Bruins fans, is why they don't attract the media attention in NE like a lot of B's fans believe they should. They are not consistent and even before Kessell left I had questions about this team going into the season because they came out of nowhere last season and I won't buy into a team until they have a run of success. . .like making the playoffs and being contenders in consecutive seasons.

Just.....AWFUL.

Bruins are back and they are back losing. I guess the break did not do them good.

Damn Canadiens. The Bruins need a scorer and I don't think they'll net one in a trade. Just another year of the same.

a 3-2 shootout win is not what the Dr ordered. They will be luckyto hang around forthe playoffs and then probably a first rond exit. I am a hockey guy and I just dont feel the buzz about them. I hoping they turn it on for the last month and do something

If I remember right, it's their first home win since the Winter Classic on New Year's Day.

I watched the Bruins at my mom-in-laws before my son's soccer game. I have never been more embarrassed to be a Bruin's fan. Not only can't they score they also have no spine. Their best player gets cheap shotted to the head and has to leave on a stretcher and what do they do? Nothing. I don't care if it's a one goal game you need to make sure the Penguins know they can't get away with that crap. Tim Thomas was stellar and it was all for not. Julien needs to go.

That was sick. Both the hit, and the fact that they let him get away with it. Disgusting.

That was a cheap shot, Cook should get at least four games.

Cooke shouldn't have been suspended at all, and he wasn't.

It's not that the hit wasn't cheap--it absolutely was, and a punk like Cooke knew exactly what he was doing. But by rule, his hit wasn't illegal: it wasn't an elbow, and Savard had just relinqueshed the puck. He didn't take 2+ strides, and he didn't leave his feet.

You can argue that a hit like that SHOULD be illegal, but it's not. The NHL needs to change the rules on shoulder-to-head hits, and it seems they will.

But you can't suspend a guy who doesn't break any rules, even if you know he's a little s*** like Matt Cooke.

The Bruins should pound him into dust one week from tonight, but with this chickenbleep team, I'm not sure they will.

I agree that within the definition of the rule it was a legal hit. I just think that history should come into play in terms of who is involved in the hit. This douche nozzle hasn't exactly been a choir boy. Savard is going to be out a long time and Cooke is free to continue his thuggery. The rule needs to be changed and hopefully it will.

As far as the Bruins I still have a bitter taste over what occurred or should I say didn't occur. They should have a yellow stripe down the backs of their jerseys. I doubt they will do anything on the 18th when they meet again. If they do they shouldn't go after Cooke; they should pound Crosby into ice. An eye for an eye. Cooke is an irrelevant thug while Crosby is well Crosby. Send a message that way.

Was it definitely shoulder to head? It looked like he raised his elbow to me... though I don't know for sure...
