They really should've fired the offensive coordinator! Oh, wait...

I say move Pepper Johnson to DC and get Tedy to come back as the LB coach...

Pepper Johnson is being courted by other teams with the Giants as a possible place for him to land. I would like to see him move into that role as it would seem ideal. He played for BB and has coached with BB every year except one since 1997.

No Defensive Coordinator will be namedOk. So Belichick is going to take a similar approach to the defense next season as he did with the offense this year. There will be no nominal DC, and duties will be shared between Matt Patricia and Pepper Johnson. The prevailing talk seems to be that this is Belichick is taking on too much and is not willing to delegate. My opinion is that he's no content to just elevate a single person to a role unless he knows he can handle it. I think he's confident that either Patricia or Johnson can do the job, so he wants to see who runs with the ball better before naming him the man. Or he already knows which guy it is, but is trying to shelter him from attention while he gets into the role. At this point in the process, I don't see this as such a big deal. The Pats aren't hiring anyone from outside the organization, that much is clear. So if the eventual coordinator is clearly coming from within, what's the rush to put the title on a guy right now?

I agree that it isn’t anything major at this point, but I would like to see him name someone before the start of next season. I’m more interested right now in what additions are coming to this team.
