We need one more player in the league that Lex started. It is a 12-player league, 3 divisions of four teams. Almost everyone in the league posts here. I'd really like to see one more join soon so we can go ahead with our draft. It will be an auto draft so you don't have to be present. You can go with the MLB rankings or pre-set your own ( it takes time to pre-set ). Could someone step up and fill us out? Thanks, Ron

I'd join, but I couldn't guarantee I'd ever make any roster moves, which is why I haven't joined any fantasy leagues this season.

Leagues don't get any easier to play than this one. Your set your roster for the upcoming week anytime before the first game begins on Monday, the week runs from Monday to Sunday. Also, since you have a pitching staff, an entire team IE, Boston, you really only need to make changes if a player is hurt and out of the lineup for a few days or more.
Small rosters, I think 9 hitters and one pitching staff, and 5 bench players. Like I said, it takes less time to make a weeks worth of moves than it does to come here, read and post on any given day.

Thanks for the effort MIT! THe draft is set to go on Thursday (3/20) at 2:00 am. It is a list draft so if you dont trust the MLB rankings go in before the draft time to change it around. Good luck guys

My bet is I wind up with Clemens, Jeff Kent and JD Drew. Somehow, I also do in these auto drafts.

I'm going to put Kent on the do not draft list. I don't care if the only other guys available are Kevin Millar, Mark Bellhorn and Doug Mirabelli. I'm not drafting Kent, god damn it.

Well, we finally filled up! It should be a fun league, esp. since it is made up of regular posters. I think you all will enjoy the 3 division set up. There is always plenty of good free agents due to the smaller roster size.
Lex, I hope you didn't decide to allow trades as that would disqualify us from playoffs ( and a chance at $10,000 ). MIT, thanks for joining, you won't regret it.
Good luck to everyone, it should be a fun league with a great group.

We should be all set looks like a fairly easy and fun league! By the way NAM, what happened to the tie? :D

There will be plenty of very good players available as free agents after the draft. By tomorrow morning we will all know what our rosters are. Good luck to all, may the best ( or luckiest ) player win!

Draft is over, rosters are set! I hope you're all happy with your line-ups. It looks like we start the week of March 31 - April 6. We have 10 days to add free agents if you want to tweak your team. PLAY BALL!

I'm not in the league, but from reading here it appears it's a weekly thing (setting rosters, etc) rather than a daily like Yahoo. More than likely their automated system couldn't handle adding the two Sox-A's games to the week of Mar 31 to Apr 6 without major work...and two games would hardly be worth giving their own week, so they're ignored. I was in a similar league back in 04 that ignored the Yankees-Rays games in Japan for that reason.

Glad the games are counting in Yahoo. With Manny and his 2 hit, 4 RBI on my roster, I might stand a chance of snagging 1st for a day. Hell, it might be my only chance to hold 1st all year...like when the Royals or Rays win on Opening Day.

Are you all enjoying the league set up so far? Are any of you actually checking in to check the standings? Even tho' the rosters are set weekly, the scoring is daily. We will play each team in our own division 3 times and once each vs. the other 8 teams for a 17-week schedule.
Alot of close battles thru Friday, 2 days to go in week one!

Are trades allowed? I want to see what I can get for Detroit's pitching staff!

I have done beat the streak in past years. It is alot of fun and I got up to like 24 once and 20 another time. Takes to much time looking up numbers to even get up that high.

It's a very competitive league so far! I look forward to many more weeks of friendly and intense competition! I have one request. Could you all match your LLFF and/or WJAB moniker to your team name? I am the Maniac, of course, but I am not sure who you all are. Yahoo leagues have a managers list, this one does not. Thanks, have a great one --- Ron

Well, 2 weeks to go in the WJAB MLB 2008 Open league and no one has been eliminated yet! Moose is having a great season and has clinched his division and the #1 seed in the playoffs. The last 2 weeks of the season pits us all against teams in our own division as did last week. The Gas House Mooses are 12-3 in the Central and have a 4 game lead over the 2nd place Wicked Lester team. NEsportsfanscott has a 2 game lead in the West at 9-6. The Auburn Maniacs are 2 back with a match vs. Scott in a short week 16. Both teams could end up at 9-8 but is is highly unlikely that the Maniacs can gain 193 pts.
The East Division is the tightest fought top to bottom. Big Blue leads at 9-6 with 3180 pts. and Portland United is 8-7 with 3099 pts. Every team in the league has at least 6 wins. If the season ended today, the playoff teams would be:
#3 Big Blue ( 9 - 6 ) vs. #2 NEsportsfanscott ( 9 - 6 )
#4 Wicked Lester ( 8 - 7 ) vs. #1 Gas House Mooses ( 12 - 3 )
also at ( 8 - 7 ) is Portland United in the 5th spot.
Auburn Maniacs and MEYanksfan are both still alive at ( 7 - 8 )
there are 5 teams at ( 6 - 9 ) who are not mathematically eliminated yet.
Two Hot Dogs and a Beer
Calnanscrew
The Ballbreakers
Parrotheadz
MITs Worst Team Ever

It is hard for me to believe tha my team actually took over 1st. Hell I started out the season losing the first 4 weeks.

Well, it's Sunday afternoon and it appears that our league playoffs are set. Gas House Mooses won the Central Division and gets the #1 seed with a 13 - 4 record. NEsportsfanscott won the West at 11 - 6 and will be seeded #2. Big Blue and Portland United will both finish at 10 - 7 in the West with Big Blue winning with a higher point total. First round match-ups are:
#4 Portland United (10-7) vs. #1 Gas House Mooses (13-4)
#3 Big Blue (10-7) vs. #2 NEsportsfanscott (11-6)

Remember, the rest of us are entered into the "Underdog Brackett" so keep your roster active, there is at least one week left for everyone.
Thanks to our commissioner, Lex and to all of you for playing.

The league rules put the non division winner with the most points scored in as the wild card. Because of that rule, Portland United lost out at 10-7 while the ballbreakers got the #4 seed with a 7-10 record. So, final records aside, here are the playoff match-ups.

#4 the ballbreakers (7-10) vs. #1 Gas House Mooses (13-4)
#3 Big Blue (10-7) vs. #2 NEsportsfanscott (11-6)

Gas House Mooses and Big Blue have advanced to the League Championship Series. Big Blue rode huge weeks from Bobby Abreau and Ryan Ludwick to squeak by NEsportsfanscott. The Mooses had to get big days Sat. and Sunday to overcome the ballbreakers.

Good luck to both teams in the finals!
