That name sucks...is that the best we can do? I'd rather have re-used something decent than this.

Nothing scarier than a shellfish that's been boiled alive.

The secondary logos aren't bad. The primary logo is as bad as the name itself.

And if someone says the general public, who the hell would leave an important decision up to the general public? That'd be like letting everyone vote. And where did that get us 2 of the last 3 presidential elections? Right in the [bleep] can, that's where!

As with any election, the public can do only as good as the names on the ballot allow.

And unfortunately there was no "Write in" option.
Maybe they should've voted tourney-style: 16 names, put them on a bracket, one week of voting per round until there is a winner.

I still think it should have been the Mariners or the Guides. Even reused names are better than the crap they picked.
One of the worst names ever. 'Red Claws'. Psh. Might as well be the Maine Puffin Crap.

So last night while driving home and listening to the C's (Bruins were in intermission), I heard a commercial for the Maine Red Claws. Hearing the name repeated over and over makes it sound even worse than I originally believed. The Maine Red Claws rolls off the tongue as well as "antidisestablishmentarianism"...

Now we have ties to the Bobcats... Great...

Oh Linc, If you had read the CMSB this morning, you could have read that news at 8 AM.
I do have the conference call audio with Jon Jennings and Danny Ainge, though..

As I was walking in front of the Expo on my way to Hadlock last night, a kid walking in front of me saw the sign and said, "Red Clams!"
I think this will be my new name for them.

I think it is good that the Redclaws are in Portland. Hopefully it can last long term. I have my doubts but we shall see. It is not like minor league baseball where there is a good possibility of seeing players that are actually going ot be good in the big leagues someday.

I don't feel so bad about the name when I see they will be playing teams like the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the Bakersfield Jam.
